For years, I thought that my moto, "Create boldly," was simply an invitation to make art. To paint boldly. To write boldly. To create beautiful things. But over time, I realized it was asking something much deeper of me.
It means creating a life that reflects your truest self.
We often think of artists as people who paint, sculpt, dance, write, or compose music. But what if every one of us is an artist? Not because we all create artwork. Because we are all creating a life.
Every choice we make becomes another brushstroke. Every boundary we set. Every dream we dare to pursue. Every relationship we nurture. Every old story we choose to rewrite. Little by little, we create the masterpiece that is our life.
That realization didn’t come to me through philosophy. It came to me through paint.
Years ago, I began creating artwork that explored healing, transformation, and the feminine spirit. Somewhere in that creative process, I encountered a mysterious figure who kept appearing in my paintings. She became known as Wild Orchid Woman.
At first, she felt almost mythical. Someone outside of me. Someone I admired. Someone I longed to become.
Eventually, I created a costume inspired by her and stepped in front of the camera for an embodiment photo shoot. It was playful, creative, and deeply symbolic.
I thought I was dressing up as Wild Orchid Woman. What I didn’t realize was that I was slowly becoming her.
Looking back, I realize I wasn’t creating a character. I was giving myself permission to become the woman I had always been beneath the fear, the trauma, and the silence. Wild Orchid Woman wasn’t someone I invented. She was someone I remembered.
She wasn’t an alter ego escaping reality. She was the truest part of myself asking to be lived.
People often talk about “finding their creative voice.” My journey has been different. Art didn’t simply help me find my creative voice. It helped me reclaim my actual voice.
The courage to speak. The courage to tell the truth. The courage to stand up to people who were abusive, manipulative, or dismissive. The courage to say, “This is who I am.”
The paintings were never the destination. They were the doorway.
Looking back, I can see that every canvas was preparing me for something much bigger than making art. It was preparing me to create my life with the same courage I brought to a blank canvas. That is why the Wild Orchid Woman tagline is:
Create boldly. Live beautifully.
Creating boldly isn’t just about making paintings. It’s about creating relationships rooted in respect. Creating work that reflects your values. Creating boundaries that protect your peace. Creating a home that feels like sanctuary. Creating a future that honors your deepest truth.
Living beautifully isn’t about perfection. It isn’t about having the perfect body, the perfect home, or the perfect circumstances. It’s about living in alignment with the person you were always meant to become.
I believe every one of us is creating something far greater than a painting, a poem, or a business. We are the artists of our lives. Every day, with every choice, we pick up the brush.
Some brushstrokes are bold. Others are quiet. Some are joyful. Others are born of heartbreak, healing, and hope. Together, they become the masterpiece of a life fully lived.
That is why I believe we are called to create boldly…
So that we can live beautifully.
